Sowore, Dasuki: Ortom Lauds Nigerians Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has commended Nigerians whose dogged clamour led to the release of human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, as well as former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki. The Governor equally commended President Muhammadu Buhari for directing the release of Sowore and Col Dasuki in accordance with the rule of law. He states that Nigeria which prides itself as the giant of Africa and beacon of democracy must, at all times, be seen as a champion of the rule of law and respecter of human rights. Sowore: Though FG Disagrees With Court Ruling, We Want To Set An Example – Presidency The Presidency has reacted to the release of the Convener of the Revolution Now protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowore and a former National Security Adviser, Mr. Sambo Dasuki by the Department of State Service (DSS). While Dasuki was arrested in December 2015, Sowore was rearrested on December 5 after his initial arrest on August 5. Although both men regained their freedom yesterday, the Attorney General of Justice and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the release was in compliance with subsisting court orders. Yahaya Signs N130.83bn Gombe 2020 Budget Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has signed the 2020 budget passed by the Gombe State House of Assembly into law. He assented to the bill during a brief ceremony on Friday at the Government House in Gombe, north-east Nigeria. The N130.83 billion Appropriation Act tagged ‘Budget of Change’ has N71.04 billion for capital expenditure while N59.78 billion is for recurrent expenditure. Governor Yahaya was confident that the budget would bring the desired change to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people, in line with the government’s next level agenda. Nestle wraps up share buyback, cooks up another Swiss food giant Nestle wrapped up Monday a huge share buyback programme launched in 2017 and confirmed another is imminent as it pursues a shake-up of its vast brand portfolio. A Nestle statement said the group had completed a share buyback programme worth 20 billion euros ($20.6 billion, 18.4 billion euros) and would launch the next for the same amount on January 3. The first programme that began on July 4, 2017, has allowed Nestle to acquire more than 225 million of its own shares, which have been cancelled or are to be cancelled in the coming months.
